How it works

Ananya is in Class 9 and is stuck on buoyancy.

She has copied the definitions from class, but the chapter still does not make sense. Here is what happens when she opens Tcher that evening.

Tue · 9:40 pm Ch. 10 · Gravitation Test · Friday
01

She sets up Tcher for her class and subjects

Setup · 30 seconds

Ananya chooses Class 9, CBSE, Kannada and English during setup. Tcher uses this information to keep explanations relevant to what she is learning.

Class 9 CBSE Kannada, English
02

She asks in her own words

Tuesday · 9:40 pm

She can type the doubt exactly the way she would ask it, say it out loud or photograph the question from her book.

An iron nail sinks, but a whole iron ship floats. Ma’am said buoyancy and Archimedes’ principle. I have copied it down and I still do not get it.
Matched · Ch. 10 Gravitation Thrust & buoyancy Relative density
03

Tobi teaches the concept from where she is stuck.

Same minute

Tobi starts with an example Ananya can relate to, connects it to the textbook concept and asks her a question to check whether the explanation made sense.

{{ tobiBig }}

Get the aluminium foil from your kitchen. Crush a piece into a tight ball, drop it in a mug of water. It sinks. Now flatten that same piece into a little boat and set it on the water. It floats. Same foil, same weight. The only thing that changed is how much water it shoves out of the way.

The water you shove aside pushes back up. That upward push is buoyant force, and Archimedes’ principle says it equals the weight of the water displaced.

So tell me: a ship’s hull is mostly hollow, full of air. What does that do to the amount of water it shoves aside?
04

She asks about the part that still does not make sense.

9:43 pm

Ananya can challenge the explanation or ask the same doubt another way, and Tobi continues from there instead of starting the entire lesson again.

But the ship weighs thousands of tonnes and the nail weighs five grams. How can the heavier thing be the one that floats?
{{ tobiSmall }}

Weight on its own never decides. It is a tug of war. The ship is huge and hollow, so before it has sunk even a few metres it has already shoved aside thousands of tonnes of water, and all of that water pushes back up. The tug of war goes even, and the ship stops sinking. The nail is tiny and solid. Fully underwater it shoves aside about a spoon of water. A spoon of water cannot hold up iron.

Displaced water weighs as much as you do → you float. Less than you → you sink.

05

Once the concept is clear, she practises it.

9:46 pm

Tobi connects the concept back to what Ananya is studying and gives her a question to solve so she can check whether she can use it on her own.

Okay. But then where does relative density come in? That is the numerical they always ask.
{{ tobiSmall2 }}

Same idea, written as one number. Relative density is your density divided by water’s. Solid iron comes to 7.8, far heavier than water, so the nail sinks. A ship is steel plus an enormous amount of trapped air, and the whole thing averages out around 0.3. Under 1 floats, over 1 sinks.

Your steel tiffin box is the same story. Lid shut, it bobs in a bucket. Open the lid, water rushes in, the air leaves, the average crosses 1, and down it goes.

R.D. below 1 floats · R.D. above 1 sinks · water is exactly 1

Safety

Parents ask about safety before anything else, so we built it into Tcher from the start.

Tcher is built for students, with safety checks designed into the learning experience. Conversations stay connected to the student’s learning context, and the safety layer checks messages before they appear on screen.

Safety layer · always on Class 6 to college

Safety works at three levels.

01
Scoped by design

Tobi uses the student’s class and syllabus as the main learning context. Questions outside the syllabus can still be handled where appropriate, while the experience remains designed for students.

02
Messages pass through safety checks.

Student messages and Tobi’s replies go through the product’s safety checks before they are shown.

03
Parents can review safety activity.

The parent view can show when a safety rule has been triggered, along with the relevant category and conversation details.

Who it is for

Tcher helps students learn and gives teachers a clearer view of where to help.

Students can learn at their own pace, while teachers can see where the class is doing well and where students may need more support.

Students

“I read it three times. Still don't get it.”

Sometimes the explanation that worked for the rest of the class still does not make sense to you. Tobi can explain the concept another way, use an example that fits your level or switch to a language you are more comfortable learning in.

You can ask the same question again whenever you need to, whether that is after class or late at night. The conversation can continue until the concept is clear enough for you to move on.

Teachers

“I can see the marks. I also need to know where the class is getting stuck.”

Tcher helps teachers see how students are progressing across topics and where the class may need more support. It also brings assessments, grading support and teaching tools into the same system, so teachers have a clearer view of what is happening between one test and the next.
