Tcher ("Tcher", "we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered educational platform developed by Tcher, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Tcher platform, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Services.
This policy is governed by the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as applicable in India.
Conversations with the Tcher AI tutor, including your questions, answers, quiz responses, voice queries, and assignments, are processed to deliver the Service.
Voice input: When you use the voice query feature, your spoken audio is converted to text by our speech processing systems. This transcription is then processed as text to generate a response. Audio recordings are not stored by Tcher after transcription is complete.
Voice output: When explanations are delivered as audio in Indian languages, the text response is converted to natural-sounding speech by our voice synthesis systems. The text used for speech generation is not stored separately from your conversation record.
AI interactions may be used in aggregate, anonymised form to improve our educational content and AI models. We do not use identifiable conversation content for advertising purposes.
When you use the Spark daily content feature, your selected topic categories and educational profile are used to personalise the content you see. This preference data is stored on your account and is not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
If a student's account is linked to a parent or guardian account, the parent or guardian may access the student's conversation history through the parent view feature. This allows parents to review what their child has been learning and any interactions that have been flagged by our safety systems.
Students are informed that parent view access is available during account setup. This access is limited to the parent or guardian associated with the account and is not shared with any other party.
To generate AI tutor responses, we securely send only the information needed for your request to trusted third-party AI providers. This may include:
These providers generate the AI responses shown in Tcher. We do not sell your data. We only send the information required to answer your request.
Each provider processes data under their own privacy policy and terms of service.
Passwords, authentication tokens, payment data, or other sensitive credentials are never sent to AI providers.
Providers may retain request data temporarily to generate responses and according to their own retention policies. On Tcher, your chats and account data are retained until you delete them or delete your account, unless longer retention is required by law.
Before your first AI request in the app or web product, we ask you to explicitly agree to this third-party AI processing. You can review this policy and our Third-Party AI Disclosure at any time from your account settings. Withdrawing consent may limit or prevent use of AI features, as we cannot provide AI tutor responses without this processing.
Our AI providers are based outside India, including in the United States. By using Tcher's AI features, your data, including conversation content and educational profile context, may be transferred to and processed in countries other than India.
We ensure such transfers are governed by appropriate contractual agreements with our providers and that each provider maintains security standards consistent with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. The AI providers listed in Section 05 each operate under privacy frameworks that include data protection obligations.
If you have questions about cross-border data transfer, contact us at grievance@tcher.ai.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide the Services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from account settings in the app or web product, or by contacting us at contact@tcher.ai.
Deleted account data is permanently removed and cannot be recovered, except for limited records retained for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution as permitted by applicable law.
Logs and analytics may be retained for longer periods for compliance and security purposes and are anonymised where possible. Third-party AI providers retain data according to their own policies. See Section 05.
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption in transit (HTTPS and TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Data transmitted to third-party AI providers is encrypted in transit. Those providers are responsible for securing data according to their own practices.
Tcher serves students from Grade 8 upward, which includes users who may be 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without verifiable parental or guardian consent.
If a parent or guardian believes their child under 13 has provided personal information without consent, please contact us immediately at contact@tcher.ai and we will delete such information promptly.
For students between 13 and 18 years of age, we handle educational data with heightened care. This data is not used for advertising, behavioural profiling, or any purpose beyond providing and improving the educational Services. We recommend that parents use the parent view feature to stay informed about their child's use of the platform.
For any user under 18, parental awareness of the Services is encouraged. If a school or institution is providing access to Tcher for students under 18, the institution takes responsibility for obtaining appropriate consent from students and their parents or guardians.
